A two-day extravaganza, celebrating films from the Silent Era,
screened on the Small Screen in Opotiki’s fabulous Art Deco DeLuxe Theatre.
Despite financial constraints we face this year, The Silent Film Festival will go ahead, but in a mini-version.
Five excellent full length feature films, a priceless collection of Chaplin Short films, and a series of delightful shorts from the US and Europe will be shown in the Little Theatre over 2 days on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September 2009.
As usual, Cinema-Goers are encouraged to dress up, and the foyer will be decorated in style, and tea with Lamingtons or shortbread will be available at the Nibblenook.
“This will be the sixth year the Opotiki Community Arts Council has run the festival” says their chairperson Kate Adams, “Even though it will be smaller this year, we will still have a great time, with the opportunity to see some classic old movies in a small, intimate environment.”
